IS IT POSSIBLE TO BECOME A PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL PLAYER WHILE GETTING AN EDUCATION?
The main purpose of Casvi Football Academy is to provide our players with a full education. To achieve this goal, our methodology is based on three main cornerstones: academic excellence, high sports performance and life experience. As an institution, Casvi aims at convincing our players that completing a proper academic training and achieving an optimal athletic growth are two fully compatible activities. Parents are often wary of their children being too focused on sports, since this may take them away from their school responsibilities, thus negatively affecting their academic future. On the other hand, there are many other parents who see athletic potential in their children and believe that by putting aside their education they can become professional footballers.
Casvi Football Academy is taking all necessary steps so that our players integrate such combination of education and football we just mentioned into their daily lives.
In order to do so, the involvement of both parents and students is particularly important; therefore, their commitment will be key to achieve a good academic and athletic growth.
Nano Rivas, Academy Director and former professional player, said such involvement by the parents is instrumental. “I was lucky enough that my parents wouldn’t let me put my education aside. At 15 I left home to play with the under-18 team of the Atlético de Madrid; however, from the distance, they always kept an eye on my academic performance. Thanks to that I managed to graduate High School with good grades and also obtained a university degree I choose, Teaching of Physical Education, while playing in the First Division where I competed at the highest level for more than 200 games.”
Nano Rivas’s experience makes it much easier to tell our athletes how important a full education will be in their future adult life. “I saw many of my colleagues, who played among the football elites and who earned a lot of money, lose it all shortly after they retired. Such education shortfall led them to make poor decisions since they were unable to find a new career after retirement”.
That is why we believe it is essential to support our children without pressuring them, helping them set achievable goals, both educational and academic, showing our families how, through love, support and of course, clear limits, our players can feel more secure and be closer to that student and sporting excellence.
